Your privacy is important to me and I am committed to protecting your privacy and handling all personal information with care and respect, in accordance with UK data protection law.


Website: When you send your information to me through the contact form, you add your name, email address, phone number and a message you choose to send. I use this information solely to respond to your enquiry to discuss my services, your needs and if we may want to book a consultation.

Client Information: If you decide to begin therapy with me, I collect additional information through a secure referral form on ‘Writeupp’. The information I ask for includes:

  • Contact details

  • Date of Birth

  • Emergency contact details

  • GP information

  • School information (If working with a young person)

  • Health and referral information

  • Risk and safety information

  • Consent signatures

  • I will also keep assessment information and clinical session notes once we begin working together.

How your information is used: Your personal information is used to respond to your enquiries, arrange appointments and to provide informed creative arts therapy in a way that is supportive for you. I also maintain confidential clinical records in order to meet professional, ethical and legal responsibilities. I will only collect information that is necessary for these purposes.

How your information is stored: Client records and referral information is securely stored using ‘Writeupp’ a secure clinical record management system that is designed for healthcare professionals. Some notes that are taken on paper during our consultation is stored in a locked cabinet, and I am the only person with access to the key. I take appropriate steps to ensure that all your information is stored securely and accessed only when necessary.

Therapy work: During our sessions together, you may create, draw or write something. If this is kept, I place it in a named folder in a locked cabinet. I am the only person who has access to the key. This work is always returned to clients at the end of our therapy journey together. You can ask for it at any time during the therapy.

How long is information kept for?: Clinical records are kept in accordance with professional guidance and legal requirements before being securely deleted or destroyed. The recommended retention period is 8 years, however this can vary.

Your rights:

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • request access to your personal information;

  • request correction of inaccurate information;

  • request deletion of information where appropriate;

  • request that processing is restricted in certain circumstances;

  • lodge a complaint with the (ICO) Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how your information has been handled

Confidentiality

Everything you share during a consultation or therapy session is treated as confidential.

There are certain situations where I may need to share information without your consent:

  • If you or another person is at serious risk of harm.

  • There are safeguarding concerns involving a child or adult at risk.

  • I am required to by law.

If possible, I will always try to discuss this with you before sharing any safeguarding information.

When working with children and young people, confidentiality is respected in the same way as it is for adults. Parents or carers will not receive detailed information about what is discussed or explored in sessions unless the child or young person gives permission, or if there are concerns about wellbeing and safety.
