Creative Arts Therapy in Schools

Mental health difficulties in young people is something that affects all aspects of their life, including their education. Many young people struggle to verbalise their difficulties, and benefit from a non-directive approach.

As a creative arts therapist working within schools, I collaborate with staff and offer 1:1 and group sessions for students during the school day. In doing this, the school day is less disrupted, it is more accessible for the young person, and I am able to aid staff members to support the young people and their mental health from within the school.

Further Information

    • Each session will take place within the school day, on the school site and within term time.

    • Sessions can vary from 40-50 minutes depending on the young person and their needs.

    • The length of each individuals therapy can be discussed. However, I prefer to offer the sessions for as long as needed with regular reviews.

    • Referrals are school staff lead.

    • A quiet, confidential space must be provided by the school for sessions to take place.

    • I can attend meetings to better support the young people I work with in their mental health and wellbeing while at school.

    • I am able to support in referrals to CAMHS and other mental health services.

    • I am able to offer EHCP Review reports.

    • The young people that are referred to me are getting support with their mental health, which can have a positive affect on their education and behaviour in school.
